Ssr. Cloud Engineer – Hybrid (Bogotá) 🌍

We are looking for a talented Ssr. Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bogotá. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and managing Chef Cookbooks. When new operating systems, such as Amazon Linux 2023, are released, you’ll develop Chef Recipes to automate their installation, configuration, and certification within our automation pipelines. Chef plays a critical role in managing configurations for application servers, web servers, and database servers, so you must support these workloads effectively.

📍 Location: Hybrid in Bogotá – 3 days remote, 2 days in the office

Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Solutions: Deeply understand our IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings, which are based on leading public cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
  • Customer Implementations: Handle quick SaaS deployments as well as larger migrations from on-premise to public cloud environments. Manage or optimize existing cloud infrastructure.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as the technical subject matter expert, guiding customers through implementations and contributing to product and service improvements.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Implement monitoring and logging solutions to gain insights into system performance and health.
  • Security: Perform security assessments and implement best practices to secure infrastructure and applications.
  • Optimization: Work with development teams to optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Cloud and On-Premises Infrastructure: Monitor and manage cloud and on-premises systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Chef Recipes: Write and certify Chef Recipes for new operating systems and workloads, ensuring compatibility and performance within our automation pipelines.
  • Chef Cookbooks: Regularly update Chef Cookbooks to align with the latest software releases and patches.
  • Support Tickets: Monitor and resolve Chef-related issues through ticketing systems and Chef dashboards.
  • Chef Automate: Maintain and upgrade Chef Automate software deployed on AWS EC2 instances, including managing disaster recovery (DR) configurations and initiating DR processes.
  • Terraform Integration: Collaborate with Terraform infrastructure-as-code, gaining familiarity with its integration with Chef.

Qualifications:

  • +2 years of experience as a professional Cloud Engineer.
  • Hands-on experience in infrastructure, network, storage, servers, security, or operating systems like Windows and Linux.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles (professional services, support) with the ability to manage client relationships up to senior/executive levels.
  • Experience in designing, building, or supporting hosted products/services.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and support with data.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess and resolve issues or implement workarounds.
  • Experience with Public Cloud Providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and/or Virtualization Technologies like Xen, HyperV, or vSphere.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or PHP.
  • Experience with troubleshooting infrastructure components like servers, storage, networking, and VPNs.
  • Familiarity with databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL.

Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Developer – Associate or equivalent certification is highly valued.
